Questions committees ask
Straight answers, including the ones that are “not yet”.
We already use a gate app. Can we use Parisar only for accounts and registers?
Yes. The gate is part of the Free package, but nothing requires you to use it. Older societies without a clubhouse often need the books and registers far more than another gate app — that is exactly the Finance package.
How do residents sign in?
With their phone number and a 6-digit code sent to the email address the society has on record. There is no SMS today, so a resident without an email address cannot sign in yet. The committee portal lists exactly who is in that position so it can be fixed before launch.
Do all residents have to use the app?
No. Bills are raised for every unit either way. A resident who pays by cash, cheque or bank transfer is recorded against their bill by the treasurer, and gets a receipt just as they would for a payment in the app.
How do residents pay maintenance?
From the bill in the resident app, by UPI to the society’s own UPI ID. They enter the transaction reference, the office confirms it against the bank statement, and then the receipt and the ledger entry post. The money goes straight to the society, not to IntelAct. Cash, cheque and bank transfers are recorded by the office as today.
Can maintenance be charged on carpet area?
Yes. Billing heads can be fixed amounts or formulas — for example a rate per square foot of carpet area plus a charge per parking slot. Late-payment interest follows the policy the committee sets.
What happens if a bill was wrong?
An issued bill is never edited, because that would break the books. The treasurer issues a credit or debit note, and both the original bill and the correction stay on record — which is what an auditor expects to see.
Our CA uses Tally. Does that still work?
Yes. Parisar exports journals and ledger masters for Tally, so your CA can keep working the way they do today.
Which state’s co-operative law do the registers follow?
Registers are headed with the citations for the state the society is registered in — the Gujarat Co-operative Societies Act, 1961 and the Gujarat Rules, 1965, or Maharashtra’s Act and Rules. Tell us if your society is registered elsewhere.
What languages are the apps in?
English, today.
Who can see our society’s data?
Your committee and staff, according to the roles the society sets; guards see what the gate needs; residents see their own records and what the society chooses to share. Each society’s data is separated from every other society’s on every request. We do not sell resident data.
What happens if we stop paying?
Configuration and finance changes lock until the subscription is renewed. Your records stay readable; the gate keeps working, and residents can still raise an SOS. You can export your registers and ledger.
How do we pay for Parisar?
IntelAct emails the society a GST invoice, paid by bank transfer or in cash quoting the invoice number. There is no payment link or UPI handle — anything asking you to pay another way is not from us.
What do we need to get started?
A decision on how units are numbered (it is printed on every bill and certificate and cannot be changed later), each member’s email address, how maintenance is calculated today, and what each member owed on the day you start.
Does it work for shops inside our society?
Yes. A unit can be a flat, a villa, a row house or a shop, and the apps name it accordingly. Shops inside a housing society are billed and accounted for like any other unit.
Something we have not answered?
Put it in the quote request — we answer it in writing with the quote.
